of a Thousand Hills : My Life in Rwanda by Rosamond Carr. I know at least
some members of our contingent met this remarkable woman who has run an
orphanage in Rwanda for years.

Babies - a fiction book by Elmore Leonard.
Comment: Not a bad book.
Only the first section is set in Rwanda 5 years post genocide however the
familiarity of the names and some of the stories takes you back.
The
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. 
Comment: This book is brilliant. Although set
in the Congo in the early 60s it provides great background reading on the mess
the Western World has made in this part of Africa. A must read.

The Shallow Graves of Rwanda - account of the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Rwanda in the mid 1990s, Shaharyar M. Khan. "This book reveals how the UN works on the ground and at headquarters." Should make interesting reading!
Silent over Africa : Stories of War and Genocide by James Schofield. A journalists travels in Africa in the early 90s. As well as Rwanda it covers Somalia, Sudan and Zaire.
